DID YOU KNOW FAMILY MEMBERS SHOOT CLAY TARGETS AT MEMBER RATES?
The board of directors passed a motion in November 2019 to include family members for shooting clay sports at member rates! Guests will now include friends, co-workers, and any others who are not members.
POLICY CONCERNING MEMBER OWNED MEMBERSHIP SALES, MEMBERSHIP AND PROXIMITY CARDS
The board of directors approved a policy at the June business meeting to increase the transfer fee on regular membership transfers either sold by the club or by the member to $140 if the proximity gate card is not returned to Membership Clearinghouse along with the current year membership card. If the proximity gate and membership card is returned, the transfer fee will remain at the current $100.
The club issued gate proximity card belongs to the club and must be returned upon disposal of your membership. For this reason the board of directors revised the policy on transfer fees to include the replacement of non-returned gate proximity cards.
If you are planning to sell your membership through Membership Clearinghouse your membership card and prox must accompany your authorization to sell form.
If you sell your membership yourself your membership card and prox must accompany the member application and transfer fee. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BADGE AND PROX TO YOUR BUYER. BUYER DOES NOT GET ACCESS UNTIL THE ORIENTATION HAS BEEN ATTENDED.
Undelivered or Lost Membership Cards
Beginning March 1st there will be no more free replacement badges. Lost, missing, destroyed, "I think I never received" requests for a replacement badges or prox cards must be made using the form located on the back page of the Target or downloaded from the website in the member area. Please include $7 for your replacement membership card $35 for prox card or $40 for both. Be sure to write ledgebly and make any corrections to your contact info. Note that your replacement badge will include a new badge holder but the badge itself may be printed or hand written depending on how many badges there are to be printed at the time. Hand written badges will be initialized by the person who processes the replacement to show authenticity and are official in every aspect.
For lost prox cards, the original prox card that was issued will be removed from the system. Members may only have 1 prox card. If your prox card no longer works, as long as there does not appear to be any damage to the card, a replacement will be sent at no cost. If you later find your card you may return your replacement and receive a refund as long as the card is still functional and not damaged.
If you happen to find a prox card on the clubsite you can drop into one of the drop boxes and it can be returned to its owner.

Unsubscribing Club Email and the Target Newsletter
I have began to notice that some of you have unsubscribed from the email server and are no longer receiving club email and the Target Newsletter. Please reconsider this action as you will be missing out on important club information. The club does not send spam email and normally only sends 1 email per month to its members. I get it if you are already getting tons of email on a daily basis and its a constant battle for most of of us. But this is your club, you own it. Don't you want to know whats going on? It is easy to delete when you are done reading. If you have already unsubscribed and you wish to resume receiving club correspondence, contact member services.
Want your card sooner? Mail your dues on time!
REMINDER
WHEN SHOOTING SKEET/TRAP BE SURE TO DECOCK THE MACHINES WHEN YOU ARE DONE. FIELD 5 GP TRAPS ARE A PROBLEM SINCE THEY ARE STATIC UNLESS THROWING A TARGET AND RESETTING. IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE THROWING ARM ON ANY TRAP IT IS COCKED AND NEEDS DECOCKED.
ALSO DO NOT STEP THROUGH THE RED HOOP ON THE BEOMATS TO OPEN THE LOW HOUSE DOOR. USE THE PIPE WITH THE BLACK HANDLE GRIP. THE THROWING ARM IS EASILY BENT AND TAKES CONSIDERABLE TIME TO REPLACE.
IF YOU NEED A REFRESHER ORIENTATION EITHER DOWNLOAD THE SKEET/TRAP MACHINE ORIENTATION LOCATED IN THE MEMBER AREA OR SIGN UP FOR THE MONTHLY ORIENTATION
WEAR YOUR BADGE
The Board of Directors would like to remind you to wear your badge while on the club site. All members of Oil Capital Rod & Gun Club shall wear an Identification badge on their person while on club site property.
The Badge Clips are in the Main Club House
IF LOST YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD THERE IS A $7 REPLACEMENT COST. FOR A REPLACEMENT CARD & HOLDER. SEND $7 TO THE CLUB P.O. WITH YOUR MEMBER INFORMATION. PROX CARD REPLACEMENT COST IS $35. $40 FOR CARD, PROX AND HOLDER. BE SURE TO PUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP NUMBER ON YOUR CORRESPONDENCE.

UNLIMITED GUESTS - THE SPIRIT OF THE BY-LAW
AS A MEMBER, YOU ARE WELCOME TO BRING AS MANY GUESTS AS YOU CAN SAFELY SUPERVISE. WANT TO BRING A GROUP FOR AN OUTING? AS A RULE OF THUMB, ONE PERSON CAN SAFELY SUPERVISE UP TO 6 PEOPLE IN MOST CASES. DON'T PLAN ON PARTICIPATING. YOU WILL BE SPENDING YOUR TIME HELPING AND SUPERVISING YOUR GUESTS. MORE THAN 6?
GET SOME HELP FROM OTHER MEMBERS. MOST MEMBERS WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HELP OUT WITH YOUR GROUP ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS A HAMBURGER OR SOFT DRINKS INVOLVED. PLAN AHEAD! THE WHOLE IDEA IS TO HAVE FUN AND STAY SAFE. REMEMBER, YOU AS THE MEMBER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF YOUR GUESTS. GUESTS ARE WELCOME AS LONG AS THEY ABIDE BY THE RULES OF THE CLUB. YOU THE MEMBER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR INFORMING YOUR GUESTS OF THE RULES AND THAT THEY FOLLOW THEM. HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR BRINGING GUEST TO THE CLUB. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF WE ARE TALKING 1 OR MANY.
1. ARRANGE A TIME WINDOW TO MEET YOUR GUESTS. TRY TO GET ALL OF YOUR GUESTS ON THE CLUB SITE AT THE SAME TIME. HAVE THEM MEET YOU AT THE MAIN GATE. ADVISE THEM TO PARK TO AVOID BLOCKING MEMBER TRAFFIC COMING AND GOING. IF YOU CAN'T GET EVERYONE IN AT THE SAME TIME. HAVE THE LATE COMERS CALL YOU ON YOUR CELL PHONE AND YOU GO AND LET THEM IN THE GATE. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE GATE COMBO. FOR LARGE GET TOGETHERS, PUT YOUR EVENT ON THE CALENDAR IN THE MAIN CLUBHOUSE AND CONTACT JACK OSTENDORF FOR AN EVENT CODE THAT YOU CAN GIVE YOUR GUESTS. THE EVENT CODE IS ONLY GOOD FOR THE DAY.
2. ONCE YOUR GUEST ARE ALL TOGETHER, HAVE A SAFETY MEETING. MAKE SURE YOUR GUEST HAVE THE APPROPRIATE SAFETY EQUIPMENT IF YOUR ACTIVITY INVOLVES USING THE FIRING RANGES. GO OVER THE RANGE RULES FOR THE RANGES YOU WILL BE USING.
3. STAY WITH YOUR GUESTS! DO NO LET YOUR GUESTS WANDER OFF TO OTHER AREAS OF THE CLUB WHERE THEY ARE NOT SUPERVISED. ALL GUESTS MUST BE ESCORTED. IF YOUR GUESTS NEED ACCESS TO THE RESTROOM FACILITIES OR WANT REFRESHMENTS, YOU MAY GIVE THEM BUILDING CODE. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO ESCORT YOUR GUEST TO THE BUILDINGS UNLESS YOUR GUEST REQUIRES ASSISTANCE.
4. LEAVE THE FACILITY AS A GROUP. IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE AND YOU HAVE NO MEMBER HELP AND ONE OR MORE OF YOUR GUESTS MUST LEAVE BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED TIME, MAKE SURE THERE WILL BE NO FIRING ACTIVITY WHILE YOU ARE AWAY. BEFORE LEAVING THE AREA, MAKE ALL FIREARMS SAFE, AND INSTRUCT YOUR GUESTS THAT NO GUN HANDLING IS ALLOWED WITHOUT YOUR PRESENCE. NO GUEST IS ALLOWED TO USE THE RANGES UNSUPERVISED.
5. LASTLY, CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF AND YOUR GUESTS. IF YOU HAVE A COOK OUT. PUT ALL OF YOUR TRASH IN THE APPROPRIATE OUTSIDE CONTAINERS. DO NOT USE THE INDOOR TRASH CANS FOR FOOD WASTE. PICK UP YOUR EMPTY HULLS IF YOU ARE USING THE SHOT GUN RANGES. PLACE ALL PAPER TARGETS IN THE TRASH IF YOU USED THE PLINKING RANGES OR RIFLE RANGES. DO NOT LEAVE SHOT UP TARGETS POSTED. IF YOU LOADED SKEET OR TRAP HOUSES, DO NOT PUT THE EMPTY BOXES IN THE TRASH CANS. PUT THEM IN THE BURN PIT ON THE EAST END OF THE SKEET FIELDS AT SKEET FIELD #1.
6. FISHING - IT HAS BEEN GENERALLY ACCEPTED THAT A GUEST MAY ENGAGE IN FISHING ACTIVITIES UN-ESCORTED. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE IF YOUR GUEST IS ABLE TO BE AROUND A BODY OF WATER UN-ASSISTED. IT IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA TO ALLOW YOUNG CHILDREN OR INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN NOT SWIM AROUND WATER ALONE. LIFE JACKETS SHOULD BE WORN BY ANYONE WHO IS UNABLE TO SWIM OR WHO MAY HAVE PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS.
HAVE FUN AND REMEMBER "SAFETY IS EVERYBODYS BUSINESS"
CONFIDENTIAL --- CONFIDENTIAL --- CONFIDENTIAL
YOUR PROX CARD OR GATE COMBO IS NOT TO BE GIVEN TO YOUR GUESTS FOR ANY REASON. THIS IS A SERIOUS OFFENSE THAT CAN RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP. YOU MAY GIVE THE BUILDING COMBO TO YOUR GUESTS. KEEP THE GATE COMBO TO YOURSELF. ALL GUESTS MUST BE ESCORTED. YOU MUST ESCORT YOUR GUESTS ON TO AND OFF OF THE CLUBSITE.
